Idle mode — checking and adjustment (Mitsubishi Colt 4)

Verification conditions:
  • Engine coolant temperature 80-90°C.
  • Additional equipment must be turned off.
  • Place the automatic transmission selector lever in position "P".

Required conditions:
  • Idle speed 800±50 rpm.
  • CO concentration - 1.0±0.5%.

NOTE: Since the carburetor has a closed feedback loop, adjustment of the fuel mixture quality is not required.


Let the engine run for 30 seconds at 3000 rpm, then return it to idle.

Press the accelerator pedal once to ensure that the high idle speed mode is turned off.

Check the idle speed. If it is not as required, adjust the idle speed screw (A).

CAUTION: Check and adjust within 30 seconds after setting the idle speed, otherwise the engine must run again for 30 seconds at increased speed and be re-stabilized.
