Power Steering System — Bleeding (Mitsubishi Galant 5)

1. After performing any operation in which you disconnected the power steering system lines, it is necessary to bleed the system to remove air from the system and achieve proper steering characteristics

2. Set the front wheels in a straight line position, check the power steering fluid level in the reservoir, and top up if necessary (see Chapter 1).

3. Start the engine and run it at high idle speed. Check the fluid level again and top up if necessary.

4. Bleed the system by turning the wheels from side to side without stopping. This will remove air from the system. Add fluid to the reservoir.

5. After bleeding the system, set the wheels straight again and keep the engine running for a few more minutes.

6. Road test the vehicle to ensure that the steering operates properly and there is no noise.

7. Check the fluid level in the reservoir. Add fluid if necessary (see Chapter 1).
