Removal
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Loosen the tension of the pump drive belt (see Chapter 1), then remove the belt.
3. Using a large syringe or pump, suck out as much fluid as possible from the power steering reservoir. Place a tray under the vehicle to catch any fluid that will drain when you disconnect the hoses.
4. Disconnect the supply and return pipes from the pump. Unscrew the high pressure pipe bracket from the pump.
21.4. To remove the power steering pump, unscrew the nut (1) of the supply pipe fitting, remove the return pipe (2), the supply pipe bracket (3), the adjusting bolt (4) and the axle bolt (not visible); have a container ready to collect liquid while removing the pump (Precis model shown)
5. Unscrew the regulator bolt and axle bolt from the pump, then disconnect the pump.
6. Install in the reverse order. Adjust the tension of the power steering pump drive belt and add fluid to the pump reservoir (see Chapter 1).
7. Bleed the power steering system as described in section 22.
