1. The purpose of the emission control system is to extract fuel vapor from the fuel tank and fuel system, store fuel vapor in a charcoal tank, and supply it to the intake manifold during normal engine operation.

2. The most common sign of emission control system failure is a strong gasoline odor in the engine compartment. If you detect a fuel odor, check the charcoal canister and system hoses.



36.2. The Emission Control System (carbon) tank is usually located on the bulkhead - check the integrity of the hoses - to remove the tank, disconnect the hoses and spring clamps (arrow)


3. The carbon tank must be replaced with a new one at the specified intervals. Disconnect the hoses, open the spring clamp and remove the tank from the engine compartment. Install in the reverse order.
