1. Adjustment of drum brake mechanisms is performed automatically during vehicle operation. In addition, manual adjustment should also be performed each time after replacing brake shoes or brake assembly fasteners.

2. Remove the brake drum (see Section Removal, installation and inspection of the brake drum).

3. Thoroughly clean the brake mechanism.


4. Using a special measuring device, determine the inner diameter of the brake drum.

5. By turning the adjustment wheel, set the shoes so that the generatrix of the working surfaces of their friction linings is located along a circle with the same diameter as the inner diameter of the drum.

6. Place the drum on the brake assembly (see Section Removal, installation and inspection of the brake drum).
