1. Air filter; 2. Vacuum hoses; 3. Gasoline vapor control hose; 4. Coolant hose; 5. Fuel hose; 6. Throttle cable; 7. Retainer (on vehicles with automatic transmission); 8. Pin; 9. Throttle cable (on vehicles with automatic transmission); 10. Wiring harness; 11. Carburetor; 12. Gasket
Adjustment
Throttle cable
1. Warm up the engine.
2. Check the pedal play, which should be 0–20 mm.
3. Adjust if necessary by moving the cable with the cable sheath locknuts on the carburetor released.
Examination
Fuel level
1. Remove the carburetor cover and gasket.
2. Turn the cover over and check the distance between the top of the float and the plane of the cover, which should be 19–21 mm.
3. Adjust if necessary by running washers under the needle valve seat.
4. To do this, remove the float, remove the valve and unscrew the seat.
Electropneumatic valve (1987-90)
1. Designate and disconnect hoses and a socket from the control electropneumatic valve on a partition of a motor compartment.
2. Attach a hand vacuum pump to the white striped hose fitting, connect the valve leads to the battery and ground.
3. Create a vacuum in the valve and check the valve operation according to the diagram.
4. Check the resistance of the solenoid. which should be 40-46 ohms at 20°C.
5. If the operation of the valve differs from that indicated in the diagram, and the resistance does not correspond to the norm, then replace the valve.
