Idle speed adjustment (Mitsubishi Pajero 1)

1. Adjustment of the engine idle speed must be performed on a warm engine, with adjusted clearances in the valve timing mechanism, with the initial injection advance angle correctly set, with a clean and in place air filter element, with free movement of the fuel supply control cable, the idle speed adjusting screw on the tip of which should not press hard on the fuel supply control lever of the high-pressure fuel pump, with the current consumers switched off.

2. Connect the tachometer according to the operating instructions and check the engine crankshaft speed at idle, which should be within 700–800 rpm.



3. If necessary, by turning the adjusting screw (1) resting against the fuel supply control lever (3), loosen the lock nut (2) and set the required crankshaft speed.

4. After adjustment, tighten the lock nut of the adjusting screw and disconnect the tachometer.
