Procedure for checking the fluid level
1. The fluid level should be checked after driving a distance sufficient for the fluid to warm up.
2. Place the car on a level horizontal surface and apply the parking brake.
3. With the engine idling, press the brake pedal all the way down and move the automatic transmission selector lever through all positions from P (park) to D (drive), holding it briefly in each position.
4. Return the automatic transmission selector lever to position P (park).
5. Remove the dipstick and wipe it with a clean, thread-free cloth.
6. Insert the dipstick until it stops.
7. Remove the dipstick again and check the fluid level. The fluid level should be between the two marks on the dipstick.

Caution: Do not open the radiator cap when the engine is hot. The cooling system is under pressure and escaping hot coolant can cause serious burns.
