Starting the engine with a completely discharged battery (Mitsubishi Carisma)

If, with a completely discharged battery, an external power source is connected via connecting wires to start the engine and the car immediately starts moving (without allowing the discharged battery to recharge), interruptions in the ignition system may begin.

This phenomenon occurs as a result of the high current consumption of the ABS system for self-diagnosis. To avoid this, it is necessary to either allow the battery to charge with the engine idling, or to disable the ABS system by removing the fuse from the ABS system circuit (Fig. 14.46). In this case, the ABS control lamp will light.

After the battery is sufficiently charged, turn off the engine, reinstall the fuse (ABS circuit) and start the engine again. Make sure that the ABS indicator light is off.
