Caution: Use only DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid.
Avoid mixing the recommended fluid with other types of brake fluid.
Bleeding the Master Cylinder
There is no check valve on the master cylinder, so if you bleed the air from the master cylinder using the following method, the procedure for bleeding the hydraulic brake system will become much easier (provided that there is no brake fluid in the master cylinder).
1. Fill the reservoir with brake fluid.
2. Press and hold the brake pedal.

3. Ask an assistant to cover the outlet of the master cylinder with his finger (Fig. 14.6).
4. While keeping the outlet closed, release the brake pedal.
5. To fill the inner surfaces of the master cylinder with brake fluid, repeat the operations described in steps 2–4 three or four times.
