Checking the thickness of the brake disc (Mitsubishi Carisma)

1. Using a micrometer, measure the thickness of the brake disc at eight points approximately every 45° at a distance of 10 mm from the outer edge of the disc. The difference in disc thickness between any measured points should not exceed 0.015 mm.

Brake disc thickness, mm:
  • nominal value – 18.0 (cars with 1600 engines), 24.0 (cars with 1800 engines);
  • the minimum permissible value is 16.4 (cars with 1600 engines), 22.4 (cars with 1800 engines).

The brake disc must be replaced if its thickness has become less than the minimum permissible. If the disc thickness difference exceeds the permissible value, the disc must be replaced or turned on a special lathe.
