The gearbox is a very complex unit, and its repair must be carried out in a specialized workshop. Also, when removing and installing many parts, it is necessary to measure the gaps and, if necessary, adjust them, for which it is necessary to use the appropriate adjusting linings and washers. Gearbox parts are not available for sale, they must be ordered, and they are also very expensive. If the gearbox is faulty or works with a lot of noise, it is advisable to entrust the gearbox repair to a specialist or replace the gearbox, which can be much cheaper. However, some gearbox faults can be eliminated without removing the gearbox from the car.

Despite all the difficulties, an experienced specialist can repair a gearbox at home. In this case, it is necessary to have special tools and perform the work consistently, step by step noting the completed operations. When repairing a gearbox, it is necessary to use special pliers for removing retaining rings, bearing pullers, an inertia hammer, a set of punches, a micrometer and a hydraulic press.

Before removing the gearbox, try to determine its malfunction as accurately as possible, which will make repairs much easier in the future.
