1. Remove the upper timing belt cover.

2. Turn the crankshaft clockwise and set the piston of the 1st cylinder to TDC in the compression stroke, while the mark on the camshaft pulley should align with the pointer (Fig. 3.16).

Caution: Since the purpose of this operation is to ensure the required timing belt tension by the forces generated by the camshaft lobes, the crankshaft must not be rotated in the opposite direction.

3. Remove the service cover.

4. Loosen the timing belt tensioner mounting bolt and allow the tensioner spring to tighten the belt.

Warnings.
When loosening, turn the bolt 90-180°.
If the bolt is further loosened, it may fall inside the cover.


5. Tighten the bolt securing the timing belt tensioning mechanism of the gas distribution mechanism drive.

6. Install the service cover.

7. Install the upper timing belt cover.
