Removal


  • Remove the lower right engine splash shield.
  • Loosen and remove the power steering pump and air conditioning compressor drive belts
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the generator.
  • Loosen the tension and remove the alternator drive belt.
  • Using special tool MD998747, block the crankshaft pulley from turning and unscrew the pulley mounting bolt (Fig. 3.18).

Warnings: If you use a special tool to lock the crankshaft pulley from turning with the belt installed on the engine, the belt will be damaged. Do not use the original engine accessory drive belt, use a different belt. Never reuse a damaged accessory drive belt.

  • Remove the pulley from the crankshaft.

Installation


  • Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
  • Lubricate the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt and washer with engine oil.
  • When tightening the pulley mounting bolt, use special tool MD998747 to lock the crankshaft pulley from turning (see Fig. 3.18).
  • Adjust the belt tension.
  • Install the lower right engine splash shield.
