Removal
- Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
- Remove the exhaust pipe.
- Loosen the bolt and remove the engine oil dipstick guide tube (Fig. 2.69).

- Remove the bolts and heat shield.
- Remove the bolts and exhaust manifold brackets.
- Loosen the nuts and remove the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head.
Examination
- Check the exhaust manifold for cracks or other damage.
- Use a metal ruler and feeler gauges to measure the flatness of the intake manifold mating surface.
Deviation from flatness of the mating surface of the exhaust manifold
- nominal: no more than 0.15 mm
- maximum permissible: 0.50 mm
Installation
- Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
