General information
Four-cylinder diesel engine with direct fuel injection and high pressure fuel line, mounted transversely in front of the vehicle. The cylinder block is made of cast iron and the cylinder head is made of aluminum alloy. The timing gear is driven by a toothed belt from the crankshaft pulley.
The engine uses a cylinder block made of cast iron with cylinder liners molded directly into the material of the cylinder block.
As spare parts, the cylinder block is supplied with main bearing caps.
Marking and installation direction of main bearing caps: numbering from 2 to 5 (#2 flywheel side) , and the marking must be read from the side opposite the location of the guide tube for the oil dipstick. Bearing support No. 1 on the flywheel side is not marked.
The turbocharger is mounted under the exhaust manifold and is controlled by vacuum through a single solenoid valve controlled by the engine control unit.
The intercooler is installed at the front of the vehicle between the cooling system radiator and the air conditioning condenser.
The high pressure fuel distribution line is designed to store the fuel required for engine operation, reduce fuel pulsations and connect high pressure elements. The steel, forged fuel rail is fixed to the cylinder head. The line contains a pressure sensor, a connection of the fuel return pipeline with a fuel temperature sensor and a pressure regulator.
Direct injection engine management with battery rail «Common Rail» carried out by the electronic control unit.
The engine is removed upward from the engine compartment.
