Removal

  • Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
  • Reduce the pressure in the fuel system.
  • Remove the bolts, disconnect the accelerator cable end from the throttle assembly and remove the accelerator cable from the engine (Fig. 7.11).

Fig. 7.11. Fuel injectors: 1 - accelerator cable tip; 2-fuel injector connectors; 3 - vacuum hose; 4 - fuel return hose; 5 - fuel pressure regulator; 6 - sealing ring; 7 - high pressure fuel supply hose; 8 - sealing ring; 9 - fuel distribution line and injectors; 10 - support; 11 - support ring; 12-fuel injector; 13 - sealing ring; 14 ring gasket; 15 - fuel injector;16 - Wiring harness bracket; 17 - fuel distribution line

  • Disconnect the connectors from the injectors.
  • Disconnect the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator.
  • Loosen the clamp and disconnect the fuel return hose from the fuel pressure regulator.
  • Remove the bolts, fuel pressure regulator and sealing ring.
  • Remove the bolts and disconnect the high pressure fuel supply hose from the fuel rail.
  • Unscrew the bolts and remove the fuel distribution line together with the injectors installed on it. Be careful not to drop the injectors when removing the fuel distribution line.
  • Carefully remove the fuel injectors from the fuel rail.

Installation

  • Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
  • Before installation, lubricate the sealing rings of the fuel injectors, high-pressure fuel supply hose and fuel pressure regulator with engine oil. During installation, prevent engine oil from entering the fuel line.
  • Being careful not to damage the sealing ring, install the fuel injectors, high pressure fuel hose connection and fuel pressure regulator by turning them back and forth, making sure that the injectors, high pressure fuel hose connection and fuel pressure regulator turn easily in their seats.
  • If they stick in their seats, the O-ring may be stuck. Remove the fuel injector, high-pressure fuel hose connection and fuel pressure regulator and check the condition of the O-ring and replace it if damaged. Reinstall the fuel injector, high-pressure fuel hose connection and fuel pressure regulator in the fuel line and check that they turn freely in their seats.
  • Install the high pressure fuel supply hose and fuel pressure regulator mounting bolts and tighten them to the specified torque.

Tightening torque:
  • high pressure fuel supply hose mounting bolts: 5.0 Nm
  • fuel pressure regulator mounting bolts: 8.8 Nm
  • Connect the fuel return hose to the fuel pressure regulator.
  • Connect the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator.
  • Connect the connectors to the fuel injectors.
  • Connect the accelerator cable to the throttle body and adjust its position.
  • Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
  • Start the engine and check for fuel leaks from the fuel system.
