Move the gearshift lever through each position in sequence. This will ensure that the torque converter and hydraulic system are filled with fluid, then return the lever to the "N" (neutral) position.
Before removing the dipstick, wipe off any dirt around it. Then remove it and check the fluid level.
Make sure the fluid level is at the "HOT" (hot) portion of the dipstick. If the fluid level is low, add automatic transmission fluid until the fluid level reaches the "HOT" portion.
