2. Place the vehicle on a level, horizontal surface.
3. Press the brake pedal and move the automatic transmission selector lever sequentially to all positions, holding it in each position for a few seconds, which is necessary to fill the entire control system and torque converter with working fluid, then set the lever to the "N" position.
4. Clean the dipstick installation area from dirt, remove the dipstick and check the condition of the working fluid.
Attention! If the working fluid has a "burnt" smell, this is a sign of contamination with small particles of wear of the friction linings of the automatic transmission control elements. This should alert you, since a major overhaul of the gearbox may be required.

5. The normal level of the working fluid should be at the "HOT" mark on the dipstick (Fig. 12.2). If the level is below the "HOT" mark, add fluid to the normal level.
For automatic transmissions, the working fluid Dia Queen ATF SP II or similar is used.
Attention! If the level of the working fluid in the automatic transmission is below normal, the oil pump will begin to suck in air, which will lead to the formation of a mixture of the working fluid and air. This, in turn, will cause a decrease in the working pressure in the control system, slipping of the friction elements of the automatic transmission control and extended gear shifting times.
Attention! If the working fluid level is higher than normal, then due to the rotation of the planetary gears, abundant foaming of the oil will occur, which will ultimately lead to the same consequences as in the case of a low working fluid level.
Caution! The end result of the formation of a mixture of air and working fluid will be overheating and oxidation of the fluid, which will adversely affect the operation of the valves and friction controls. In addition, foaming causes increased discharge of working fluid through the breather, which can be mistaken for fluid leaks from the system.
6. Install the dipstick firmly into place.
7. In case of major repairs of the automatic transmission or operation of the car in very difficult road conditions, replacement of the working fluid and filter is mandatory. It is necessary to remember that only special oil filters are used in the automatic transmission.
