1. If the brake pedal is pressed all the way down, the ignition key is in the "LOCK" ("OFF") position or removed from the lock, the automatic transmission selector lever cannot be moved from the "P" position to any other position unless the button on the automatic transmission selector lever is pressed.
2. If the brake pedal is pressed all the way down, the ignition key is set to any position except "LOCK" ("OFF"), or is removed from the lock, then the automatic transmission selector lever can be easily moved from the "P" position to any other position, provided that the button on the automatic transmission selector lever is pressed.
3. If the brake pedal is released and the automatic transmission selector lever is in any position other than "P", the ignition key cannot be turned to the "LOCK" ("OFF") position.
4. If the brake pedal is released and the automatic transmission selector lever is in the "P" position, the ignition key can be smoothly turned to the "LOCK" ("OFF") position.
If problems occur during the above check, adjust the ignition switch interlock cable as follows.
1. Remove the front floor console and pre-install the automatic transmission selector lever handle.
2. Move the automatic transmission selector lever to position "P".
3. Turn the ignition key to the "LOCK" ("OFF") position.
4. Loosen the ignition lock cable lock nut.

5. Lightly press the junction of the cable with the locking mechanism cam in the direction of the arrow shown in Fig. 12.5 until the cable stops. Tighten the lock nut to a torque of 12 N·m.
6. Install the floor console.
After adjustment, check the operation of the starter lock mechanism again. If it still does not work correctly, replace the ignition switch lock cable.
