2. Connect a 100 A ammeter and a carbon plate rheostat between the positive pole of the battery and the starter terminal (Figure 7.18).

3. Connect a voltmeter across the starter.
4. Turn the carbon plates of the rheostat to the position of maximum resistance.
5. Place the cable from the negative battery terminal against the starter housing.
6. Adjust the rheostat so that the voltmeter reads 11 V.
7. Make sure that the maximum value on the ammeter does not deviate from the norm and the starter rotates smoothly and freely. The current strength should be 90 A.
