Checking the starter manifold (Mitsubishi Colt 5)

1. Place the anchor on two wooden supports and measure the runout using a dial indicator (Figure 7.22). Limit value: 0.05 mm.



2. Measure the outside diameter of the manifold (Figure 7.23).



On direct drive starters:

• Specified value: 32.0 mm.
• Maximum permissible value: 31.4 mm.

On starters with planetary drive:

• Specified value: 29.4 mm.
• Maximum permissible value: 28.8 mm.

3. Check the depth of the grooves between the segments (Figure 7.24).

• Specified value: 0.5 mm.
• Maximum permissible value: 0.2 mm.
