Checking the reverse stroke of the starter traction relay (Mitsubishi Colt 5)

1. Disconnect the excitation coil contacts from terminal M of the traction relay.

2. Connect the battery between terminal M and the vehicle body (Figure 7.19).



3. Pull the drive gear out by hand and release it. If the gear returns to its original position, the relay is OK. If not, replace it.

Caution: Be careful not to pinch your fingers when pulling out the gear.
