Checking the EGR valve (Mitsubishi Colt 5)

1. Remove the EGR valve and check its flow capacity, absence of carbon deposits, etc. If necessary, clean the valve with a suitable solvent to ensure tight sealing of the valve seat.

2. Connect the vacuum pump to the valve (Figure 6.15).



3. Create a vacuum of 67 kPa and check it for leaks.

4. Bleed air from the EGR channel and check the following system condition:

Vacuum	Air permeability
5.3 kPa or less	No air leakage
27 kPa or higher	Air leak

5. When installing the EGR valve, install a new gasket and tighten it to 22 Nm.
