Warning: Dust generated in the brake system may contain asbestos, which is harmful to your health. Never blow off dust with compressed air or inhale it. Wear a cloth mask when working on the brakes. Do not use kerosene-based solvents to clean the brake system. Use only special brake system cleaners or alcohol.
Removal
1. Remove the wheel cover and unscrew the hub nut (see Chapter 8).
2. Loosen the wheel nuts, lift the car and place it on supports. Remove the wheel. Remove the brake mechanism and secure it with a piece of wire as described in chapter 9.
3. Loosen, but do not completely remove, the bolts/nuts securing the strut to the steering knuckle.
4. Disconnect the steering rod from the steering knuckle arm as described in section 19.
5. Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle (see section 7). Now you can unscrew the bolts securing the strut to the steering knuckle.

6. Disconnect the steering knuckle and hub from the strut, ball joint and drive shaft. If the drive shaft is stuck in the hub splines, remove it from the hub as described in Chapter 8. Secure the end of the drive shaft with a piece of wire.
Installation
7. Install the steering knuckle and hub into place by inserting the drive shaft into the hub.
8. Install the knuckle into the strut flange, then install the bolts, but do not tighten them completely.
9. Install the ball joint stud into the hole in the steering knuckle, then tighten the nut.
10. Connect the steering rod to the steering knuckle arm as described in section 19. Tighten the strut bolt nuts, ball joint bolts, and steering tie rod end to the torque specified in the specifications in this Chapter
11. Install the brake mechanism as described in chapter 9.
12. Install the hub nut and tighten it securely (see Chapter 9).
13. Install the wheel and mounting nuts.
14. Lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the nuts to the torque specified in chapter 1 specifications.
15. Tighten the hub nut to the torque specified in chapter 8 specifications.
