The order of disassembling the fist

Removal and installation



1. Unlock the hub by shifting the transfer case lever to position 2H and driving in reverse for 2 m.

2. Raise the front of the car and remove the wheel.

3. Remove the pads and caliper, move the caliper to the side and secure it.

4. Remove the brake disc assembly with the hub and bearings.

5. Raise the lower arm with a jack, press out the pin and disconnect the steering rod from the knuckle.

6. Press out both ball joints using pullers MB990778-01 and MB990809-01, loosen the support nuts, but do not unscrew them completely.

7. Lower the lower arm slightly and remove the knuckle.

Replacing the needle bearing and seal





1. Disassemble the knuckle, knocking out the seal, washer and bearing with a brass drift.





2. When assembling, lubricate and press the new bearing flush with the surface of the knuckle using a special mandrel.

3. Press in a new seal, fill the seal cavity with grease.

4. Install the fist in reverse order.

5. Tighten the nuts of the supports and the steering rod pin in accordance with the required torques. Tighten the caliper bolts to a torque of 80–100 Nm.
