- b) Check that there is no slack in the cable.
- c) If the cable is loose, adjust it as follows: d) Turn the adjusting nut counterclockwise until the throttle lever is released.
- d) Remove all sharp bends in the cable.
- e) Loosen the lock nut and turn the throttle cable adjusting nut clockwise to the position where the throttle lever just begins to move, then turn the adjusting nut back one turn and tighten the lock nut securely.

16. Remove any sharp bends in the throttle cable.
17. Check the position of the cable.
18. Turn on the ignition for fifteen seconds (to turn on the ISC motor).
19. Loosen the two cable mounting bolts near the throttle body
20. Adjust the cable to remove slack.
21. Tighten the two cable mounting bolts near the throttle body.
22. After adjusting the cable, make sure that the throttle lever contacts the ISC motor.
Models with cruise control Cordia and Tredia
Gas pedal cable
23. Loosen the cable adjusting nuts and disconnect the cable from the throttle lever and bracket (see illustration).
16.23. Throttle cable parts for Cordia and Tredia models with cruise control. Arrows indicate adjusting nuts
24. Disconnect the cable from the pedal (see illustration 16.4).
25. Disconnect the cable from the engine compartment bulkhead (see Illustration 16.5).
26. Pull the cable out of the engine compartment through the bulkhead.
27. Install in the reverse order. Check that there are no sharp bends in the cable.
28. With the engine idling, eliminate the free play of the cable using the adjusting nuts.
29. Tighten the adjusting nuts relative to each other.
30. Press the gas pedal and make sure there are no obstructions.
Drive cable
31. Disconnect the cable from the throttle lever.
32. Disconnect the cable from the drive and remove it. Install in the reverse order. After installation, adjust the free play of the cable as described below, starting with the next step.
33. With the engine idling, eliminate the free play of the cable using the adjusting nuts.
34. Tighten the adjusting nuts relative to each other.
35. Press the gas pedal and make sure there are no obstructions.
Galant
Removal and installation
Note: This procedure applies to cables A and B shown in Illustration 16.37.
36. Remove the speed control drive cover.
37. Loosen the throttle cable adjusting nut (replacement cable) and disconnect the cable housing from the bracket (see illustration).
