  • Anti-lock braking system (ABS) — general information
0
This system is designed to automatically regulate wheel braking under various braking conditions (including during sudden braking) and is installed on cars manufactured in 1992-98.

The system includes a hydraulic module with a control unit, vehicle speed and overload sensors (G-sensor).

A malfunction of the anti-lock braking system is indicated by a lamp on the instrument panel, while the brakes remain operational – only the automatic control of the pressure in the hydraulic circuits is disrupted.

In vehicles equipped with an ABS system, when the speed exceeds 6 km/h, a high-pitched noise is heard, which comes from the engine compartment and is caused by the operation of the self-diagnostic system and the increase in pressure in the system. In addition, when driving on a slippery road or when braking sharply, vibrations may be felt in the steering wheel and brake pedal.

System diagnostics are performed only in a car service center. You can replace faulty system units yourself.
