Bleeding the Power Steering (Mitsubishi Pajero 1)

1. Disconnect the high-voltage wire on the ignition coil.

2. Turn the steering wheel in both directions, turning on the starter for 15–20 seconds.

3. Repeat the last operation 5-6 times, monitoring the fluid level in the power steering reservoir. The level should not change when turning the steering wheel.

4. Connect the wire and start the engine, at idle speed, turn the steering wheel in both directions until it stops.

5. The change in level when turning the steering wheel should not exceed 5 mm, and the liquid should not be homogeneous (without small bubbles). If the level changes more, or if the level rises sharply after the engine is turned off, there is air in the power steering.

6. Add liquid and close the tank with the cap.

7. Install the spare wheel and secure with bolts, tightening them slightly.

8. Lower the wheel. Tighten the wheel mounting bolts to the specified torque in a diagonal sequence.
