Pic. 2.11. Checking the brake fluid level
Check the brake fluid level in the brake reservoir. The level must be between the marks «MAX» And «MIN» on the tank (pic. 2.11). As the brake pads wear, the level of brake fluid in the reservoir drops slightly, but this does not indicate a malfunction.
If the brake fluid level drops significantly in a short time, this indicates fluid leakage from the brake system. In this case, contact an authorized Mitsubishi dealer to check and repair the vehicle.
Use brake fluid that meets DOT 3 or DOT 4 specifications. Brake fluid is hygroscopic. Too much water in it has a negative effect on the brake system and reduces the effectiveness of the brakes.
The reservoir of the brake system is equipped with a special hermetic plug that prevents air from entering the system. This plug should not be opened.
The brake fluid level is monitored by a float. If the level in the tank falls below the mark «MIN», the brake warning light comes on.
Attention! Handle brake fluid with care as it is harmful to the eyes and can damage the vehicle's paintwork. Spilled brake fluid must be wiped up immediately.
Attention! Use only the brake fluid specified in this manual. In addition, additives contained in different grades (types) brake fluid, when mixed, can enter into a chemical reaction. Therefore, if possible, avoid mixing different brands (types) brake fluid.
