2. Release the adapter lock.
3. Pull the speedometer cable slightly into the vehicle interior and remove the rear portion of the adapter from the cable.

4. Turn the adapter so that its slot coincides with the lock on the speedometer cable side, and remove the adapter by moving it back (Fig. 12.12).
5. Loosen the nut and disconnect the speedometer cable from the gearbox.
6. Tie a cord to the end of the speedometer cable located inside the car. Then, after removing the seal from the engine compartment side of the car, pull the cable into the car.
7. Install the new speedometer cable and attach it to the adapter.

8. Install the connecting element (from the gearbox side) of the speedometer drive cable into the cable hole in the gearbox housing and securely tighten the cable mounting nut (Fig. 12.13).
Caution! If the cable is not installed correctly and is not securely fastened in the seat, this may cause incorrect speedometer readings and noise during speedometer drive operation.
