3. If the brake drum wear exceeds the maximum allowable value or the brake drum has a significant imbalance, replace the brake drum and brake shoes. The brake drums must have the same internal diameter and be bored at the same time. Never exceed the maximum allowable diameter indicated on the drum.
Checking the uniformity of the fit of the brake shoes to the surface of the brake drum
1. Remove the brake drum.
2. Remove the brake pads.
3. Rub the inner surface of the brake drum with chalk and run the brake shoe over it (Fig. 15.30).

4. If the contact patch is uneven, replace the brake shoe or brake drum.
Note: After checking, wipe off the chalk from the surface of the brake drum and brake shoe.
