Checking the throttle position sensor (Mitsubishi Space Star)

1. Disconnect the connector from the throttle position sensor (see fig. 6.4).

2. Measure the resistance between contacts 1 and 3 of the sensor connector (see Fig. 6.4, 6.9).

Resistance: 3.5-6.5 kOhm

3. Measure the resistance between pins 1 and 2, as well as 1 and 4 of the sensor connector (see fig. 6.4).

Normal condition

Slowly open the throttle valve from fully closed to fully open.

The resistance changes smoothly in proportion to the throttle opening angle.

4. If the resistance differs from the required value or does not change smoothly, replace the throttle position sensor.
