Checking the accelerator pedal position sensor (Mitsubishi Space Star)

1. Disconnect the connector from the accelerator pedal position sensor (see fig. 6.6).

2. Measure the resistance between pins 2 and 1, as well as 8 and 7 of the sensor connector (see fig. 6.4).

Resistance: 3.5-6.5 kOhm

3. Measure the resistance respectively between contacts 2 and 3, as well as 8 and -6 of the sensor connector (see fig. 6.4).

Normal condition



Press the accelerator pedal slowly The resistance changes smoothly in proportion to the pressure on the accelerator pedal.

4. If the resistance differs from the required value or does not change smoothly, replace the accelerator pedal position sensor.
