Distributorless Ignition System (DIS)

Primary winding (1989)

7.1 Identifying the Primary Ignition Coil Connector Terminals for 1989 Models Without Distributor Ignition

1. Disconnect the primary winding connector of the coil and measure the resistance between terminals N 4 and E (7.1) and terminals N 4 and 1.

Primary winding (1990)

7.2 Identifying the Primary Winding Connector Terminals of the Ignition Coil on 1990 Models Without a Distributor

2. Disconnect the primary winding connector and measure the resistance between terminals N 3 and 2 (7.2) and terminals N 3 and 1.

Secondary winding

7.3 On the ignition coil of models without a distributor, check the resistance of the secondary winding

1. For cylinders N7 and N4; 2. For cylinders N₂ and N3

3. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals of the high-voltage wires of cylinders No.1 and 4 (7.3) and cylinders No.2 and 3.

All other models

4. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

7.5 Checking the resistance of the primary winding of the coil

5. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the positive and negative terminals (7.5), and between the positive terminal and the high-voltage wire terminal.

6. If the resistance is different from that specified in the specifications section, replace the ignition coil.

Replacement

7. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

8. Disconnect the wires from the coil and remove the coil from the mount.

9. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
