Removal



1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Disconnect the coil high tension wire from the distributor cap.

3. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the ignition timing module.

4. Mark the location of the high tension wire for the first cylinder on the distributor cap and remove the cover.



8.5 Before removing the distributor, mark the position of the runner tip on the distributor body


5. Turn the engine crankshaft so that the runner is opposite the terminal of the wire of the first cylinder, and mark the position of the runner on the distributor housing (8.5).

6. Make alignment marks on the distributor housing and cylinder block. Loosen the mounting nut and remove the distributor. Caution: Do not rotate the crankshaft when the distributor is removed from the engine.

7. Disconnect the ignition coil primary winding wires from the distributor.

Installation



8. Install the distributor on the cylinder block, aligning the marks made earlier. Lightly tighten the fastening nut and connect the wires.

9. Install the distributor cap and connect the vacuum hoses to the ignition timing module.



10. Connect the high tension wires to the spark plugs.

11. Connect the negative battery terminal wire.

12. Check the ignition timing and tighten the distributor mounting nut securely.
