2. Install a stroboscope and connect the vacuum pump to the corrector.
3. Start the engine, and gradually increase the vacuum in the vacuum corrector by directing the stroboscope beam to the alignment marks.
4. The ignition timing should gradually increase. If the vacuum corrector holds a vacuum, then the ignition timing plate in the distributor is sticking. If the ignition timing does not increase and the vacuum corrector passes air, replace it.
Replacement
5. Remove the rotor from the axle.
9.6 To remove the vacuum corrector from the distributor, unscrew the two fixing screws (indicated by arrows)...
6. Unscrew the fixing nuts of the vacuum corrector (9.6).
9.7...then tilt it, remove it from the pin on the breaker and remove it from the distributor
7. Disconnect the connecting link from the pin on the breaker and remove the vacuum corrector (9.7).
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
