Displaying diagnostic trouble codes
Connect the special tester to the diagnostic connector.
The figure shows a typical tester for displaying automatic transmission fault codes.
A - to the cigarette lighter;
B - to the diagnostic connector.
Read diagnostic trouble codes. Then perform troubleshooting work.
Recommendations for diagnostics
The control module can store up to 10 diagnostic trouble codes (in the order they appeared).
The same diagnostic trouble code can be stored no more than three times.
If the number of stored diagnostic trouble codes exceeds 20, the already stored diagnostic trouble codes are cleared in sequence, starting with the oldest ones.
Do not disconnect the battery until all diagnostic trouble codes or diagnostic trouble patterns have been retrieved, as disconnecting the battery will clear all stored diagnostic trouble codes.
