Pic. 3.11. Alignment of the mark on the camshaft pulley with the pointer when installing the piston of the 1st cylinder at TDC in the compression stroke
2. Turn the crankshaft clockwise and set the piston of the 1st cylinder to TDC on the compression stroke, while the mark on the camshaft pulley should align with the pointer (pic. 3.11).
Attention! Since the purpose of this operation is to ensure the required tension of the timing belt due to the forces generated by the camshaft cams, the rotation of the crankshaft in the opposite direction is not allowed.
3. Remove the service cover.
4. Loosen the timing belt tensioner pulley bolt and allow the tensioner spring to tension the belt.
Attention! It is allowed to unscrew the bolt within 80–200°. If the bolt is further loosened, it may fall inside the cover.
5. Tighten the timing belt tensioner pulley bolt.
6. Install the service cover.
7. Install the timing belt top cover.
