Speedometer

The speedometer shows the speed of the car in kilometers per hour (km/h)

Note: When disconnecting and connecting the wires from the battery terminals, the speedometer needle first automatically moves to the right and then returns to its original position. This phenomenon is not a malfunction.

Odometer (trip meter)/daily trip meter

The odometer reading can be seen at the bottom of the speedometer 2 on the liquid crystal display when the ignition switch key is in the ON position.

The upper display window 3 shows the readings of the daily mileage counters A and B in the corresponding sequence, as well as the mileage before the last ignition switch-off. When you lightly press (less than 1 second) the reset (zero) button 1 of the daily mileage counter, the upper display modes (daily mileage counters A and B) change, as shown in the figure.

Trip meter

The counter shows the total distance traveled by the car.

Daily mileage counter

The trip meter display has two modes. The trip meter shows the distance traveled during a single trip or over a certain period of time.

To reset the meter readings, press the reset button and hold it down for more than 1 second. Only the reading currently displayed on the display will be reset.

Tachometer*

The tachometer shows the engine crankshaft speed in revolutions per minute (rpm)¹ x 1000). The tachometer can help you achieve a more economical driving mode and also warns you when the engine speed exceeds the maximum permissible value.

Warning: While driving, watch the tachometer readings. Its needle, which shows the crankshaft speed, should not enter the red zone (the zone where the maximum permissible speed is exceeded).

Fuel level indicator

This indicator shows the fuel level in the fuel tank regardless of the position of the key in the ignition switch.

Warning: Do not drive if the fuel level is below the permissible level; if the fuel is completely used up, it may cause damage to the three-way catalytic converter.

Note

• (1) Arrow 2 shows that the fuel tank filler neck is on the left side of the vehicle.
• (2) Immediately after refueling, you must wait for a while until the correct fuel level is displayed after turning the ignition key.

Coolant temperature gauge

This gauge shows the temperature of the coolant in the engine cooling system when the ignition key is in the ON position.

If the pointer of the indicator entered the red scale zone while the engine was running, this may indicate that the engine is overheating. Immediately stop the car in a safe place and eliminate the cause of overheating. During the trip, make sure that the coolant temperature remains within the normal range.

Indicator and control lamps

Indicator and control lamps are located in the instrument cluster.

Direction indicator lamps - green

These lamps flash simultaneously with the direction indicators

Note: Excessive flashing of the lamps indicates a poor connection in the turn signal target or a burnt out turn signal lamp.

Indicator lamps for hazard warning lights - green

When you press the hazard warning light switch, all direction indicators start flashing.

High beam indicator lamp - blue

The control lamp lights up when the high beam headlights are on.

Fuel reserve indicator light - yellow

This lamp lights up when the fuel level in the fuel tank reaches the minimum reserve value (approximately 9 l). When the lamp lights up, it indicates that refueling is required.

Warning. On vehicles with a catalytic converter, do not allow the fuel level to fall below the minimum permissible level. If the fuel is completely used up, it may cause damage to the three-component catalytic converter.

Front fog light indicator light - green

The lamp lights up when the front fog lights are on.

Rear fog light indicator light - yellow

The lamp lights when the rear fog light is on.

Open door warning light - red color

The lamp lights up when one of the side doors or the rear (fifth) door is not closed or not tightly closed

Brake system warning light - red

When the ignition switch key is in the ON position, this lamp lights up in the following cases:

• (1) The parking brake is applied;
• (2) The brake fluid level in the hydraulic brake system reservoir drops below the minimum permissible level.

In the following situations, there is a risk of reduced braking efficiency or loss of vehicle stability when braking abruptly. Therefore, do not drive at high speed and avoid abrupt braking. Moreover, you should stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact the nearest authorized Mitsubishi dealer.

• the brake system warning light does not come on when you apply the parking brake, or does not go out; when you released the parking brake;
• the brake system control lamp remains lit the entire time the vehicle is moving.

If the braking system does not work or its effectiveness has decreased, you must stop the car as follows:

• press the brake pedal harder than usual;
• if the (foot) brake does not work, then to stop the car, reduce the speed of the car by braking the engine and slowly pull the parking brake lever up. At the same time, press the brake pedal to turn on the brake lights to warn drivers behind you about braking.

Battery discharge indicator light - red

The lamp comes on when the key in the ignition switch is in the ON position and goes out after the engine starts.

Warning: If the indicator lamp remains on after the engine has started, there is a problem with the charging system. In this case, stop the vehicle in a safe place immediately and contact your nearest authorized Mitsubishi dealer.

Engine Malfunction Indicator Light - Yellow

This light is part of the on-board self-diagnosis system that monitors and controls the engine management system, automatic transmission and emission control system for malfunctions. If the self-diagnosis system detects a malfunction in one of the above systems, the check engine light will illuminate or flash. Although the vehicle can usually be driven without having towed when the light is on, you should have the vehicle checked by an authorized Mitsubishi dealer as soon as possible. This light will also illuminate when the ignition key is turned to the ON position, and should then go out after a few seconds. If this does not happen, have the vehicle checked by an authorized Mitsubishi dealer.

Warnings

• (1) Prolonged driving with the engine malfunction warning light on may cause further damage to the exhaust gas reduction system. It can also affect the fuel consumption and handling of the vehicle.
• (2) If this indicator light does not come on when the ignition key is turned to the ON position, have your vehicle checked by an authorized Mitsubishi dealer.

Malfunction codes that occur during vehicle operation (especially those related to the emission control system) are stored in the memory of the engine control unit, which services the self-diagnosis system. This data will be erased from the electronic memory of the unit when the wires are disconnected from the battery terminals, which will greatly complicate the rapid diagnosis of vehicle malfunctions. Do not disconnect the wires from the battery terminals if the engine malfunction indicator lamp lights up.

Windscreen washer fluid low level indicator light - yellow

This lamp lights up when the washer fluid level in the washer reservoir drops to the minimum permissible level, which corresponds to approximately 0.8 l. If this indicator lamp lights up, fill the washer reservoir with washer fluid as soon as possible.

Oil pressure warning light (engine) - red

This lamp lights up when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position and goes out after the engine starts. If this lamp lights up while the engine is running, it means that the engine oil pressure is below the minimum permissible value. In this case, stop the engine immediately and contact your nearest authorized Mitsubishi dealer.

Warnings

• (1) If this light comes on even though the engine oil level is normal, have your vehicle checked by your nearest authorized Mitsubishi dealer.
• (2) Driving with a low engine oil level or with the oil pressure warning light on may result in engine failure (scuffing, seizure, etc.).
