- To ensure proper engine operation, only high-quality filters should be used. When replacing the filter, make sure that the rubber gasket from the old oil filter is completely removed from the mating surface of the cylinder block
- Start the engine and warm it up to a temperature of 80-90°C.
- Remove the engine oil filler cap.
- Remove the plug and drain the engine oil from the engine.
Warning: Use caution as the drained oil is very hot.
- Using a special key, unscrew the oil filter (Fig. 3.64):
- key MD991396 for oil filter MD135737;
- key MD991610 for oil filter MD136466;
- universal key for oil filters except filters MD135737 and MD136466.

- Wipe away all traces of oil and dirt around the filter mounting area. Check to see if the rubber seal is still on the cylinder block. If it is, remove it.
- Lubricate the rubber seal of the new oil filter with clean engine oil and screw in the oil filter (Fig. 3.65). Tighten the oil filter by hand until it touches the rubber seal of the cylinder block. Use a special wrench to tighten the oil filter to the required torque.
Tightening torque:
- filter number MD135737: 1 turn (14 Nm)
- filter number MD136466: 3/4 turn (17 Nm)
- filter number MD322508: 3/4 turn (17 Nm)
- filter number MD325714 and MD332687: 3/4 turn (16 Nm)

- Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for oil leaks around the filter and the oil drain plug on the pan. Note that the oil pressure warning light may stay on for a few seconds as the oil fills all the passages and oil reservoirs in the engine.
- Dispose of the oil filter in accordance with applicable laws.
