20.1 Different types of wear of plain bearing liners

1. The condition of the bearing shells will allow you to determine the cause of their failure (20.1). After removal, lay out the shells in the order in which they are installed on the car.

2. Bearing liners may be damaged as a result of foreign particles getting on them or lack (or absence) of lubrication as a result of clogged lubrication channels, engine overload, incorrect bearing lubrication clearances and other reasons.

3. The driving style of the car also affects the service life of the bearings. High revolutions at low speeds of the car have a very bad effect on the condition of the bearings. Frequent short trips, during which the engine does not have time to warm up, lead to corrosion of the bearings. Incorrect installation of bearings and tightening of the bearing caps also leads to premature failure of the bearings.
