20.1 Different types of wear of plain bearing shells
1. The condition of the bearing shells will allow you to determine the cause of their failure (20.1). Once removed, arrange the liners in the order they are installed on the vehicle.
2. Bearing shells can be damaged by foreign particles or lack of (or lack) lubrication due to clogged lubrication channels, motor overload, incorrect bearing lubrication gaps, and other causes.
3. Driving style also affects bearing life. High speeds at low vehicle speeds have a very bad effect on the condition of the bearings. Frequent short trips, during which the engine does not have time to warm up, lead to corrosion of the bearings. Incorrect installation of bearings and tightening of bearing caps also lead to premature bearing failure.
