Camshaft covers (3.0 engines)
The arrows on the camshaft covers must match the arrow on the cylinder head.

Removal
1. Remove the cylinder head cover.
2. Put special clamps MB998443-01 on the hydraulic tappets. Loosen the camshaft journal cover bolts, lightly pressing on the rocker arms.
3. Loosen the cover bolts in the direction from the front cover to the rear, while asking an assistant to hold the camshaft securely. It is important not to allow the belt tension to increase sharply when the camshaft leaves the bearings (otherwise you will have to reinstall the camshaft and belt).
4. After removing the roller, remove the back cover and install it in its place, securing it with bolts by hand. If necessary, this cover can be removed and the middle cover installed in its place.
Installation
1. Disassemble the mechanism, check the condition of the rocker arm thrust surfaces, the freedom of rotation of the roller, the wear of the mating parts and the cleanliness of the lubrication channels.

Replace worn parts.
2. Assemble the rollers with the caps, orienting them so that the notches on the rollers are facing up and the caps are located according to their numbers.
Lubricate all parts. When installing the rollers, an assistant must hold the camshaft.
3. Then assembly is carried out in reverse order. Remove the brackets after tightening the mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts to 20 Nm.
