Head cleaning involves removing sealant residue and carbon deposits from the combustion chambers and valve heads. When cleaning, use a scraper made of hard wood or plastic (scratching is not allowed). At the same time, clean the split surface of the cylinder block by carefully covering the cylinders with a rag.
After cleaning and washing the head, check the condition of the split surfaces.
The permissible deviation of the plane with the cylinder block from the caliber is 0.05 mm in any place.
If the deviation does not exceed 0.20 mm, then grind the head. Otherwise, replace the head.
If the deviation of the cylinder block split plane from the gauge exceeds 0.05 mm, grind the block or replace it. The manufacturer has set a standard for reducing the thickness of the cylinder head during grinding – 0.20 mm.

On V6 engines, the intake manifold surface should also be ground. After cleaning, it is recommended to install the valve timing components.
