To cool the injected air (by approximately 30°C) and increase its density at the cylinder inlet, an intermediate cooler ("intercooler") is used, installed at the inlet of the intake manifold.
The turbocharger, which rotates at 140,000 rpm, is lubricated by engine oil. This unit has high lubrication requirements (regular oil and filter changes, increased oil purity).
Basic operating rules
After starting a cold engine, warm it up at low speed (in cold weather for 1–2 minutes) so that the oil viscosity decreases to the specified level and the compressor lubrication improves.
Before stopping the engine after driving in difficult conditions, it should idle to prevent coking of the compressor oil channels.
If a warm engine stalls, restart it immediately to prevent excessive heating and compressor failure.
It is prohibited to disassemble the turbocharger yourself
Removal and installation
Removal and installation of the turbocharger is carried out according to paragraphs 1–9 of the procedure for removing diesel manifolds (see subsection 3.4.17).
