Removal

• Remove the lower right engine splash shield.
• Loosen and remove the power steering pump and alternator drive belts.
• Using special tools MD998719 and MB990767, block the crankshaft pulley from turning and unscrew the pulley mounting bolt (Fig. 2.15). Remove the pulley from the crankshaft.

Installation

• Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
• Lubricate the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt and washer with engine oil.
• When tightening the pulley mounting bolt, use special tools MD998717 and MB990767 to lock the crankshaft pulley from turning (see Fig. 2.15).
• Adjust the belt tension.
• Install the lower right engine splash shield.
