Lubricate seals with clean gear oil and thrust bearings with petroleum jelly. Do not wash seals or thrust bearings with solvent when reusing them.

Before screwing into aluminum parts, bolts should be dipped in clean transmission oil. It is also permissible to use an anti-seize compound. Use torque wrenches to avoid stripping the threads. External retaining rings should be spread apart, and internal ones should be brought together if they are to be reused.
