Typical elements of the gearshift mechanism of models of early years of production
1 - gear lever handle; 2 - a box of the middle console; 3 - rear part of the middle console; 4 front part of the middle console; 5 - holder; 6 - gear shift cable; 7 - gear selection cable; 8 - gearshift lever.
All vehicles covered in this publication have a cable shift mechanism. In the new gearboxes, changes have been made to the gear lever, shift cable and gear selector cable installed in cars without a turbocharger. These changes did not, however, affect the principle of gear shifting.

After pulling out the safety cotter pins, remove the shift and gear selection cables in the cabin.
Set the gearshift lever in the passenger compartment to the neutral position.
Rotate the turnbuckle until the end of the selector cable is against the shift lever in the cabin.

Rotate the turnbuckle until the end of the shift cable is against the shift lever in the passenger compartment.
Connect the shift cable and insert a new cotter pin.
Set the gear lever to 3rd and then 4th gear. Measure the gap A, and then B, between the lever and the stop. By turning the shrink disc, achieve the same dimensions of both gaps.
Including all gears, make sure that the shift lever moves freely.
