Removal



1. Raise the vehicle and support it on supports.



18.2 Disconnect the high pressure pipe (1) and the return pipe (2) - 3 marks the lower intermediate shaft clamp bolt (Precis model shown)


2. Disconnect the hydraulic pipes and close them (18.2).

3. Make alignment marks on the lower intermediate shaft joint and the steering gear input shaft. Loosen the lower joint clamp clamp bolt.

4. Disconnect the steering rod ends from the steering knuckle arms.

5. Support the steering gear and loosen the mounting bolts (18.5a and 18.5b). Lower the steering gear, disconnect the intermediate shaft from the steering gear input shaft and remove the steering gear from the vehicle.

Installation



6. Install the steering gear in place and connect the intermediate shaft, aligning the installation marks.

7. Install the steering gear mounting brackets and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.

8. Connect the tie rod ends to the steering knuckle arms.

9. Install the lower intermediate shaft pinch bolt and tighten it to the specified torque.

10. Connect the hydraulic pipes to the steering gear and fill the reservoir with hydraulic fluid.

11. Lower the vehicle and bleed the power steering system.
