Front wheel hub fittings
1 - hub; 2 - outer gland; 3 - mudguard; 4 - rotary fist; 3 - hub bearing; 6 - retaining ring; 7 - inner gland.
Disassembly
Remove the inner seal.
Using the tool, remove the hub.
Loosen the two bolts and remove the mudguard.
Remove the circlip securing the bearing outer ring from the steering knuckle.
Remove the hub bearing. For gripping the outer part of the inner cage (1) using a puller, it is necessary to break in two places (arrows) outer gland (2), as shown in the picture above.
Having installed the outer part of the inner race removed from the hub into the bearing, use a puller to remove the bearing.
Remove the outer seal.
Check the contact surfaces of the front hub and brake disc for wear and damage.
Assembly is carried out in the reverse order, taking into account the following:
Install the hub bearing. Fill the bearing with grease. Apply a light coat of grease to the mating surfaces of the steering knuckle and hub. Using the tool, press the bearing into the steering knuckle.
ATTENTION: The pressing force is applied to the outer race of the bearing.
After installing the circlip, install the outer oil seal. Using a mandrel, install the seal (from the side of the hub) into a fist flush with the end surface of the steering knuckle. Apply grease to the lip of the oil seal and to the inside and end surfaces of the oil seal in contact with the hub.
Install the splash guard.
Install the hub. Using the indicator, measure the value of the axial clearance of the hub bearing, for which, first fix the steering knuckle in a vice, the maximum allowable value is 0.05 mm. If, when tightening the nut to a torque of 216-255 Nm, the starting torque and the axial clearance of the hub bearing do not lie within the specified limits, it is necessary to replace the bearing and assemble the assembly again. Tighten the nut to a torque of 216-255 Nm.
Apply grease to the back of the inner seal. Install the inner seal (1) into the steering knuckle until it contacts the retaining ring.
